「三字經」的妙譯-

人之初：At the beginning of life, 

(意譯：After birth,)

性本善： Sex is good.. 

(意譯：Nature is innately good)

性相近： Basically, all the sex are the same. 

(意譯：Human nature is basically the same)

習相遠： But it depends on how you do it. 

(意譯：It is their habits that carry them far apart.)

苟不教： If you do not practice all the time, 

(意譯：If a person is not properly educated)

性乃遷： Sex will leave you. 

(意譯:His nature will be changed)

教之道： The way of learning it 

(意譯: If educated properly with ethics...)

貴以專： It is very important to make love with only one person.

(意譯: making his nature noble ..)

【說明】：上列原譯為外國人對三字經的另類幽默詮釋。把『性』字譯為sex，是其中之一，但，「本性」=nature, 「性情」=disposition, 「性質』= quality, 性格=character, characteristic，「性向」=aptitude, 」「個性」=personality；現代人另發明『性趣』=sexual desire, 等等。

【附註】：三字經一說是宋代人王應麟所創。初著傳說為宋朝王應麟，明、清兩代人（如清初康熙年間王相與清末大學問家章太炎）多認定作者是王應麟。其次，從文風看，王應麟的其他著作也多三字句，幾年前，在鄞州還出土了王應麟用“三字經”句式作結尾撰寫的廟記。另外，王應麟是一個關心兒童教育的學者，除了《三字經》，他還有六本兒童啟蒙讀物(《詞學指南》、《小學紺珠》、《姓氏急就篇》、《小學諷詠》、《蒙訓》……)。這些都是非常有力的證據。
